Art in the Park

Fund: $44,000

Art in the Park has cultivated access to arts and cultural events in Northeast Los Angeles for 30 years. Starting in July 2026, they will present Earth Cycles, a series of exhibitions and programs examining the four cycles that sustain life on the planet: Carbon, Water, Rock, and Plant. Over the course of a year, the project brings together artists Megha Jairaj, Cassandra Marketos, D'Angelo Christian, Kyle Hokona Kootswatewa, Síta Valrún, Pearl C. Hsiung, Lucia Fabio, and Carolina Caycedo, each of whom will create new work responding to one of the cycles through a range of media, including video, sculpture, photography, drawing, earthen vessels, and living installation. These works will address the urgency of ecological connection at a moment when awareness of natural cycles is threatened by long work hours and social isolation. Earth Cycles is co-curated by gloria galvez and Liz Goetz.
