Los Angeles Performance Practice
Fund: $50,000
Los Angeles Performance Practice (LAPP) is devoted to the production and presentation of contemporary performance by artists whose work advances and challenges multi-disciplinary artistic practices. LAPP will present Requiem: por las almas que nacen de la luna, a large-scale, immersive performance installation led by Los Angeles-based multidisciplinary artist San Cha, with core collaborators rafa esparza (installation/performance) and Darian Donovan Thomas (composer/performer). The project reimagines the requiem form through a queer Latinx lens, blending music, installation, and collective ritual into an act of mourning and celebration. Conceived for unconventional sites such as warehouses and sacred spaces, the work adapts to each location, transforming it into a temporary sanctuary for collective reflection. Requiem will premiere in the fall of 2027 as part of LAPP's LAX Festival.
