Echo Park Film Center Presents A Night of Commissioned Films by Los Angeles Artists!

Echo Park Film Center (EPFC) a media arts organization committed to providing underserved communities with equal access to film and video resources through screenings, residencies, and educational programs—presents The Newsreel Project, which invited filmmakers to create new films about transformative communities around California, exploring notions of place, identity, and inclusion.

This grant was originally awarded in 2019 and the 6 project artists - Arshia Haq, C Díaz, Kate Dollenmayer, Nora Sweeney, Tuni Chatterji, and Walter Vargas - have worked under difficult circumstances to complete work that honors and celebrates the spirit of cinematic collaboration and adversity in pandemic times.

In addition to the Newsreel Films, we will be presenting work commissioned through EPFC’s LA AIR program which has been supporting artists with micro grants since 2011. Works by Maral Mahmoudi, Melinda James, Michael Verdin and Saif Alsaegh will be screened.
