Human Resources Los Angeles
Fund: $30,000
Human Resources (HRLA) was founded by a team of creative individuals who sought to broaden engagement with contemporary and conceptual art, with an emphasis on performative, interdisciplinary, and underexposed modes of expression. Their main aims have always been to promote non-traditional experimental art forms, to serve as a point of convergence for diverse and disparate art communities, and to promote conversation and idea-sharing.
HRLA’s upcoming programming presents a wide-range of projects intended to foster dialogue and support underrepresented modes of expression. Themes of this next year of programming include decolonization, world building, and kinship. In April 2024, HRLA will present There in Green California / اﻟﺧﺿراء ﻛﺎﻟﯾﻔورﻧﯾﺎ ﻓﻲ ھﻧﺎك , a group exhibition addressing cycles of violence and loss, curated by HRLA keyholder Gelare Khoshgozaran and featuring artwork by Ali Eyal, Andre Keichian, Ignacio Perez Meruane, Izdihar Afyouni, Golrokh Nafisi, Hande Sever, and Susu Attar. From the most abstract to the figurative, the material or psychological, they provide embodied perspectives across experiments with material and form, reminding us of how the perceived peacefulness of our homes here is not in contrast to, but at the price of war at home over there.
